It’s obvious Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra state may have nurtured plans to dump the All Progressives Grand Alliance for the All Progressives Congress (APC).
This followed the suspension the National Chairman of his party, Victor Oye, on Thursday, October 6, by it’s National Working Committee of the party.
According to a member of the NWC of the A.P.G.A who demanded anonymity, plea by Obiano to stop the chairman’s suspension was not given a positive consideration, The Punch reports.
The NWC member said: “Obiano was called on us to stop the suspension, but it fell on deaf ears. what we hear is that the Obiano may join the APC to achieve his re-election next year. If that happens, the party may be in ruins. The governor is the only sitting governor we have in APGA.” When contacted via telephone, Emeka Ozumba, a senior special assistant to the Governor on Media, told The Punch media that he would not comment on it.
His words: “It’s an APGA thing. We don’t give way to speculation. Obiano is busy trying to actualize his stimulus giveaways on recession for the people of his state. “He signed several memoranda of understanding this day.
The case you raised is not an issue the Obiano would like to react to. “Try and get APGA to react to the matter, and leave the Obiano out of it. It’s APGA thing.” Sir Nobert Obi, the APGA sitting chairman in Anambra state when contacted via telephone, also said he would reserve their comment on the matter for now.
Media gathered that APGA National Working Committee had suspended their chairman, for what they called gross misconduct. According to the NWC, Oye’s suspension was in accordance with the provisions of their party’s constitution, following alleged constitutional breaches and inappropriate practices of the chairman and other national officers. Jerry Obasi, the deputy national secretary of the party, reiterated the suspension was necessary in order to save the party.
